Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the American Association of Museums' Annual Meeting and MuseumExpo at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. The theme of the meeting, Leadership: An Open Mic for New Ideas promises a conference with exciting guest speakers, thought-provoking professional sessions and the opportunity for new ideas about museums to be heard.


The AAM Annual Meeting and MuseumExpo would not be possible without the dedication of hundreds of willing volunteers like you. Volunteer involvement enables AAM to offer a quality conference to delegates at a cost that is affordable. The conference is also an excellent professional development opportunity for those affiliated with museums or interested in the museum field.


  1. For each four-hour shift completed, a volunteer will earn a voucher which is valid toward a complimentary one-day registration to the AAM Annual Meeting and MuseumExpo.
  2. To be among some of the top museum professionals in the country.
  3. To hear world-renowned speakers and attend sessions.
  4. Volunteers participate in the largest cultural event of its kind in America.
  5. Volunteers earn the appreciation of the museum community for their hard work and dedication!


Volunteer registgration is available to individuals 18 years of age or older who are legal residents of the State of Colorado or Wyoming. You must have an email address to register.


Please read Steps 1 through 4 completely before beginning the registration process.

STEP 1 - Sign up

You will begin your online sign-up process by clicking the Register Now button on the right side of this page. Enter the system by typing your email address and creating a new password. Double-check the address you submit . . . your confirmation will be sent to this address.

Next, complete a personal profile. Required information includes your name, address, organization/company name and emergency contact. If you are affiliated with a museum or other cultural organization, be sure to provide the institution name. If you are a student, provide both school and program name.

You must also provide the name and contact information of a professional reference, such as a supervisor or colleague. Please have this information ready before you begin.

STEP 2 - Waiver

Next, read and accept the Volunteer Release, Waiver of Claims and Indemnification Agreement. (The waiver can also be found under the pdf downloads to the right.) Please print a copy of the waiver to bring to orientation.

STEP 3 - Choose jobs and shifts

A variety of volunteer positions are available - from stuffing conference packets to greeting delegates at a hospitality desk. A short description will appear by clicking on a volunteer job title. Please note that physical restrictions are indicated for some positions.

All volunteers are required to attend a mandatory Volunteer Orientation session at the Colorado Convention Center on either Thursday, April 24 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm or Saturday, April 26 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

STEP 4 - Confirm

Confirm and complete your registration. A copy of your final itinerary will be emailed to you.
